Assistant Teacher
Job Summary:
The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in a child care center. The candidate must have experience working with young children and the ability to work as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate for children
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children by supervising and monitoring all activities
- Assist in facilitating children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Support the Lead Teacher in conducting regular assessments to track children’s progress and development
- Communicate with parents and guardians about their child’s progress and needs
- Help to maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
- Attend staff meetings, professional development trainings, and other events as required
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and protocols
Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an early childhood education or related program is preferred
- At least 1 year of experience working with young children in a childcare setting
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to sit on the floor, stand for extended periods of time, and kneel or crouch at child’s level
